Born in 1894 into a family of farmers sake, Masataka Taketsuru is regarded as the father of Japanese whiskey. Made from a blend of Miyagikyo and Yoichi single malts and a unique grain whisky, this Nikka whisky embodies the expertise of master blenders home. Intense, round and generous, this ambitious blend with high degree, powerful and controlled, is recognized for its originality. It dares. It challenges and seduces. It dominates with its style.
This whisky is characterized by a delicate and complex nose, very floral and fruity with spice and leather notes. On the palate, we find spicy and woody (oak) notes. Strong and firm, it operates on ripe fruit, caramelized apple and flowers. With a long final, marine notes, ripe fruit on a background of vanilla oak notes stand out and slowly fade.

He then became passionate for whiskey and decided to devote his life to it.
In 1934, he built Yoichi his first distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Its growing success, enabled him to open a second one in 1969 near Sendai Miyagikyo. It is based on single malts of these two distilleries that
