The late Mandarin from Ciaculli owns its name to a village near Palermo in Sicily where it has been discovered.

It is different from most mandarin by the thinness of its skin and its high rate of sugar. Its production is limited since it is only cultivated on 200 hectares. All the orchards are owned by small producers gathered in a consortium that is supported by Slowfood Italy.

Born in 1965, from a family of farmers, Alain Milliat created and operated for fifteen years an orchard of fruit trees in Orliénas (near Lyon). He specializes in the production of cherries with zero defects for its customers in Paris. Then he developed in 1998 several fruit nectars, the Nectar of peach, immediately adopted by the sommeliers of Relais et Châteaux.
